LA Kings Ice Mammoth Lakes

The Community Recreation Center (CRC) is a 40,000 square foot Sprung Performance Arena enclosing the brand new LA Kings Ice at Mammoth LakesThe CRC will be open and available to the public year-round, with LA Kings Ice operating annually each winter season between the months of October and April. During the summer months, the rink will be transformed into the Mammoth RecZone – a 3-court gymnasium, serving as the hub for the expanding Parks and Recreation Department’s summer camps and programs, as well as a multitude of court sports, events and activities for residents and visitors to Mammoth Lakes.

Sprung Performance Arena was selected by the Town for its affordability, reduced operating and energy expenses and green footprint. Sprung structures are known for their exceptional durability – a necessity in a typical Mammoth Lakes winter – and for their proven long-term performance, quality ice surface, interior brightness, and high ceiling allowing for a multitude of sports.

Combined with community driven and professionally branded programming, the new year-round facility will be a game-changer for recreation in Mammoth Lakes.

To maximize operational efficiencies and to assist in the development of year-round programming, American Sports Entertainment Company (ASEC), have been contracted by the Town to deliver year-round technical and operational consulting services for the facility.

Broad community input from local residents and industry experts alike helped inform and build the programming playbook for LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes. Public skating, youth and adult hockey, figure skating, and learn to skate lessons as well as curling will be offered. The rink will also serve as the home of Mammoth Lakes Youth Hockey and the Mammoth Stars.

The CRC is the major recreation amenity at Mammoth Creek Park that includes three complementary components: the natural play area (park rehabilitated in 2024), a PlayCore National Demonstration Site 7,700 sq. ft. inclusive playground and the new minor-mobility hub with parking for up to 118 vehicles and EV charging.
