RALEIGH, NC – Shane Willis, Youth and Amateur Hockey Coordinator for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk has joined the team and the Polar Ice House in multiple programs designed to support the growth of youth hockey in North Carolina.
“We all started somewhere, and I’m proud to be able to help kids in North Carolina put on skates and learn the sport that I love,” said Faulk.
Faulk and the Hurricanes will be involved in two programs to help introduce kids to hockey – Learn to Play and First Goal. The First Goal program is a four-week course that provides an introduction to try hockey at a minimal expense. Upon completion of the First Goal program, participants may progress to Learn to Play, an eight-week program that teaches the fundamentals of the sport. All players completing either program will receive specialJustin Faulk t-shirts upon graduation. Players completing the Learn to Play Program will also receive a youth hockey stick.
After completing Learn to Play, participants will be invited to join the Hurricanes House League, open to players from ages 5-18. The Hurricanes House League is designed to not only provide a quality competitive player experience, but also to develop and maintain standards of player safety and growth potential. The Polar Ice House has three Triangle locations – Garner, Cary and Wake Forest – and offers a wide variety of ice entertainment including public skating sessions, birthday parties, track out camps and learn to skate programs.
